01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

At SUGiTORA, Torachan’s Paw pairs a paw-shaped ice cream with a cone filled with a gelato flavour of your choice. The paw comes in milk, hojicha or strawberry milk, while you can choose any one gelato for the cone—so part of the fun is deciding on a combination. One diner who paired the hojicha paw with classic milk gelato enjoyed its smooth texture alongside the cone’s crisp crunch. The playful appearance is only part of the appeal: as you eat, the two flavours and textures come together in each bite.

For something to enjoy at a table, consider a parfait. In one diner’s account of the pistachio parfait, a cookie topped with cream and ice cream gave way to baked sweets beneath, followed by refreshing sorbet. Its flavours shift as you work through the glass, making for a dessert that stays interesting to the last spoonful. The menu also includes a mini matcha parfait layered with Uji matcha and stem hojicha gelato, a matcha éclair, matcha buttercream and crumble cookies. Whether you prefer a simple serving centred on gelato or a parfait with toppings to explore, there are different ways to enjoy something sweet.

Between Teramachi Kyogoku Shopping Street and Shinkyogoku Shopping Street, the shop offers gelato to take away, while parfaits can be enjoyed in the café space on the 2 floor. One comment about dining in mentioned that the stairs to the 2 floor were a steep spiral staircase; bear that in mind if stairs may be a concern.
